SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Information Technology Manager I, the Information Technology Specialist I (ITS I) configures and administers the Department’s program applications. The ITS I provides technical expertise in all aspects of software configuration and development, testing, and production launches. The ITS I is responsible for software configuration and development using modern techniques, open-source programming languages and frameworks. The ITS I is expected to take initiative, exercise excellent judgment, and independently perform assigned tasks professionally and efficiently with a high level of accountability. The ITS I must be willing to adapt to changing environments and new technologies in order to keep current with industry standards. This position may require occasional travel.

Working Conditions

If the employee is working at an alternate work location during telework, they are required to maintain a safe working condition at the approved site, abide by the Departments Telework Policy and Ergonomic Policy, and agree to maintain a distraction-free remote work environment. Further, employees are required to be available through various forms of communication during work hours.

Desirable Qualifications

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:
  • 3 yrs. of Experience with SaaS Platforms: Proven track record in administering, configuring, and optimizing Software as a Service (SaaS) systems to meet organizational needs and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to quickly diagnose and resolve complex technical issues, ensuring minimal disruption to services. Experience in implementing preventive measures to reduce future system vulnerabilities.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences. Experience working in collaborative team environments and cross-functional groups.
  • Project Management: Experience with project management methodologies (e.g., Waterfall, Agile, Scrum) and tools to manage timelines, resources, and stakeholder expectations.
  • Advanced Technical Proficiency: Demonstrated expertise in software configuration and development using modern programming languages and frameworks such as SQL, Node.js, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS. Familiarity with both front-end and back-end development practices is preferred.
  • Technical Proficiency: Demonstrated proficiency in software configuration and development with programming languages and frameworks including SQL, Node.js, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS. Knowledgeable in front-end and back-end development practices.
